Lately it seems the Lord has been extra busy with the task of fine tuning His people. At least I know He has me! Thankfully I have heard many others talking about this same subject, which really gives me a sigh of relief! I was beginning to think I was the only one, and we all know that " One is the Loneliest Number!"
During such a major cleanup it is easy to fall back into old and often destructive patterns of behavior and negative, unproductive mindsets. We become like those little dust spiders in the hard to reach places that are only found during the upheaval of spring cleaning; scurrying desperatly to the retreat of our dark corner, hoping to not be discovered or disturbed. Our old nature rises up and scratches to stay alive amidst all the Holy Spirit sweeping, dusting and scrubbing that will inevitably eventually provoke us to make a decision. Will I retreat to the "safety", or familiarity of my dark closed in corner just so my flesh can live? Or will I surrender my will to the spiritual broom and dust pan, trusting that God knows what's best for me so this cleaning can move me into greater places?
One area that has been illuminated to me, has been in the nook and crany of weariness. It is always a silent killer and hides its deadly poisons well so often it is overlooked and ignored. It never seems dangerous in fact, to our flesh is pretty inviting. Signs of this killer are easily detected though if you know what to look for. Let's turn the flashlight on as God did with me. Oh yeah! We're gonna go there! The first thing He lit up in my spirit was that "WEARINESS BREEDS REBELLION." I know! I didn't like that one either! Rebellion? Me? Preposterous! I am a good girl that does what I am supposed to do! Then started checking my attitude, my habits, areas that I began to justify actions because, " I deserve to have a bad day! Everyone else does!" It's not that bad or negative things won't visit your life. BUT, when we allow them to form the kind of day (days, weeks, months)we have by controlling our thoughts and souring our attitudes then it becomes rebellion. Rebellion breeds self pity, negativity, spiritual and physical laziness, it provides us with all sorts of excuses and ways to justify our attitude, it allows our fleshly appetite to over ride what we know in our spirit is healthy for us to do. Weariness will warp the view we have of ourselves by completely hiding from our sight the value, worth, purpose, and treasure that God places in each of us. This causes a downward spiral into thoughts of failure and not being good enough or being unworthy to receive anything good from God or anyone else. The spiral goes even deeper because with that thinking comes the, "Why Try Syndrome". "Why try to do anything for anyone because it's never good enough, why read my Bible it doesn't work for me like everyone else, why pray God doesn't hear lowly me anyway. I might as well just give up on life because nothing I do is gonna be right." And so opens the door to REBELLION!
Rebellion is also knowing when you are wrong and simply giving into it anyway because you are just too tired (weary) to care anymore. It is participating in, giving time or thought to, BELIEVING or doing ANYTHING outside of what God's word says about you or guides you to be in your actions and reactions.
Yes, weariness and rebellion are a dastardly duo, but even more, they are deadly! Together they cause more fatalities to your God given identity, your divine purpose, and your hope than any other pair.
This type of revelation is a two edged sword for sure. Are you going to allow it to cut away all the damaged flesh and wounded emotions caused from this deadly duo so new life can come? Or will you merely allow it to stab at your flesh and poke at your emotions causing more infection from rebellion?
You choose, you decide.
I know God has great plans for you, He said so in His word and He can not lie! It's time you know it, believe it, except it and live in the reality of it!
May your day be blessed as you walk in this revelation!!
"For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29:11
"Do not grow weary while doing good, for in due season you shall reap if you do not lose heart."
Galatians 6:9
"...I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse, CHOOSE LIFE!"
Deuteronomy 30:19
